One arrested with brown sugar

ITANAGAR, May 27: One Chow Hita Laphai of Sengsap village has been arrested with 3 grams of Brown Sugar by a police team constituted by the SP Lohit on May 26.

During interrogation, Laphai disclosed the place from where he purchased the Brown Sugar leading to the house of one Duang Singpho of Mudoi Village under Diyun circle of Changlang district.

During the search, police team recovered 13 grams brown sugar and cash amounting of Rs. 18,320 from the house of Singpho who fled after spotting the police. A case has been registered in Namsai PS (Case No. 53/2015 U/S 21 (B) NDPS Act dated 26/05/2015) and investigation is on.  

The team was led by Inspector S K Lenka, CI-cum-OC PS Namsai along with SI (P) Amit Pertin, SI(P) Debanand Mossang,  L/SI (P) Radha Soki, H/C (DVR) C W  Khamhoo and Ct. C W Lohan under the supervision of Ved Prakash Surya, IPS SP Lohit and DySP Kirli Padu, SDPO Namsai.

 

Birth anniversary celebration of Lummer Dai

ITANAGAR, May 27: Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) is conducting an essay competition in two categories for junior (Cl. VI- VIII) and senior (Cl. IX-XII) students at JN State Museum here as part of birth anniversary celebration of Lummer Dai on June one.

The students of class VI-VIII may choose any one of the two given topics “Itanagar – the capital of Arunachal Pradesh” or “My Favourite Writer”. The senior level students may also choose either the topic “Economic Potentialities of Arunachal Pradesh” or “Lummer Dai as a Pioneer Writer of Arunachal Pradesh”.

 

Riba inducted in IFS

ITANAGAR, May 27: The Central Govt has inducted Tapek Riba, a 1987-89 batch state forest service officer, in Indian Forest Service (AGMUT cadre) by a notification issued on  May 8 last.

 

Penalty imposed

ITANAGAR, May 27: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC) has imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 under Section 20(1) RTI Act 2005 against Deputy Director, UD and Housing, Capital Complex division for deliberately defying its order in an appeal made by one Yukar Tara seeking information.

The Deputy Director was ordered to deposit the penalty amount in favour of APIC  on or before  June 9. The PIO was also directed to appear before the Commission on the same date along with deposited copy of the challan including information as sought by the appellant.

 

AIFF makes players’ registration mandatory

ITANAGAR, May 27: Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) following instruction from All India Football Association (AIFF) has suggested football players of the state to get themselves registered with AIFF to participate in any football event conducted by the apex football body of the country.

As per the new AIFF rule, no player would be eligible to participate in any football tournament, championships or competition conducted by it unless he or she is registered with AIFF.

The registration process for players of Arunachal Pradesh will commence on June 1, according to APFA.

 

Ita-Seppa Suma fare reduced

ITANAGAR, May 27: East Kameng district administration has reduced the fare of Tata Sumo plying between Seppa and Itanagar from Rs.800 to Rs.650.

The reduction in Sumo fare will mostly benefit the students and poor people, the public of Seppa said, and appreciated the Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Singh for the initiative giving a great sigh of relief to the public.

 

Union urges for staff at Laying Polytechnic

ITANAGAR, May 27: The Nyapin Nyobia Sangram Phassang Students Union (NNSPSU) has appealed to the Director of Higher and Technical Education to post necessary staff including faculties and administrative staff at the Laying Polytechnic college for its early functioning.  The infrastructure of the college like academic building, hostels and lecturers’ quarters has been completed, the Union claimed adding that  the higher authority needs to provide fund for water and electricity supply to the  college building.

Meanwhile, the Union conducted a four-day education tour to the various schools under Sangram, Nyapin, Phasang and Nyoba circles and took stock of the academic situation.   

 

 Assault on magistrate condemned

ITANAGAR, May 27: All Arunachal Pradesh Government Employee Welfare Association and Memo Ao Welfare Society (MAWS) has condemned physical assault on Liyi Bagra, EAC cum Town Magistrate, Aalo by a group of IRBn jawans on May 25 night. They demanded the law enforcing authority to award exemplary punishment to the  wrong doers so that no one dare to repeat such incident.

All Arunachal Pradesh Government Employee Welfare Association also expressed deep concern over report of the assault on Arunachalee police personnel at Assam. Such kind of manhandling is unfortunate, it added.

 

EYWA for transparent compensation policy

ITANAGAR, May 27: Emchi Youth Welfare Association (EYWA) in a representation to the Land Assessment Board chairman Doimukh requested him for transparent compensation policy for land affected people before conducting survey work for construction of Doimukh-Gumto highway.

No notification was issued nor has the opinion of the land affected people been taken regarding road  construction, except a mass meeting at Doimukh on  May 19 where most of the  land affected people were absent, the   Association claimed.

It further demanded reformation of land assessment board including the ASM and GB, issuance of proper notification for a meeting with the land affected people of Emchi and Gumto to elicit  their opinion regarding road construction.

 

 AACS demands CBI probe into alleged financial scam

ITANAGAR, May 27: Stating that it does not believe in enquiry by a panel of officers, Arunachal Anti-Corruption Sena (AACS) has demanded CBI enquiry into the alleged misappropriation and siphoning of Govt funds to the tune of Rs 6,911.55 crore.

There is an allegation of fund misappropriation amounting to 6,911.55 crore.  But the central Govt

responding to the complaint of MLAs  had ordered probe into the schemes involving Rs 900 crore only which is not acceptable, the  AACS said.

Threatening to launch its third phase of agitation against financial crises, the organisation further demanded resignation of Chief Minister on moral ground to facilitate free and fair investigation.  

 

EKPRCEA demands release of salary

ITANAGAR, May 27: The East Kameng Panchayati Raj Contractual Employees Association (EKPRCEA) in a two-point memorandum to Panchayati Raj director has urged him to release the salary of contractual computer assistants, peons and drivers immediately. The contractual employees are facing lot of problem as they are yet to receive the salary which had already been sanctioned by the Central Govt, the   Association unit said in its memorandum.

It further appealed the director to extend the service period of the contractual employees working under the department since 2011. The contractual staffs have already crossed the age limit and they are not eligible to apply for new job. In these circumstances, extension of service period is necessary for survival of this contractual employees, the memorandum said.

 

APCSOA units demands stringent action

YINGKIONG MAY 27: Angered by the assault on magistrate while on duty in Aalo on May 25,the APCSOA, Upper Siang District Unit said that stringent action should be taken against the culprits Jawans which includes termination from their services.

It is also opined that the Wine shop owners/keepers should also be booked under appropriate laws for opening beyond time and allowing Jawans to drink inside wine shop.

Changlang District Unit of APCSOA has also appealed the authority concerned to award exemplary punishment at an earliest to the defaulting jawans of IRBn so as to deter any such misadventure in future.

 

Govt. to create database of arms license holders

ITANAGAR, May 27: All the arms license holders of Kurung Kumey and Kra Dadi districts, who have licenses issued from office of the Deputy Commissioner Kurung Kumey, are asked to fill the National Database of Arms License (NDAL) forms and submit it before June five for creating national database of arms license as instructed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Otherwise, their arms license would be cancelled after October 1, 2015.

Fingerlings distributed in Namsai district

ITANAGAR, May 27 : The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Lohit, Namsai districts distributed 2.20 lakh fish seed to 87 fish farmers of 20 different villages during three days programme starting on May 25.  The villages which benefited are Khowji, Kumari Khampti, Mahadepur-I, Ekorani, Simulbari, Juna- IV, Chongkham, Gunanagar, Dharampur, Lekang Guhain Gaon, Namsai, Manmow, Sengsap, Solungtoo, Manhophai, Nanam Khamyang-II, Momong, Namliang, Kheram and Pangkhao. The fingerlings were distributed under the guidance of Dr. Debasis Sasmal I/C Programme Coordinator with an objective to introduce new technology like Paddy cum fish culture, post monsoon culture of carps along with the fish production and livelihood security of rural people living in the disadvantaged regions.

Chakma student leaders arrested, APDPF toll reach two

CHANGLANG, May 27: One over-ground worker identified as Ranjan Kumar Chakma alias Sabhananu,  resident of Jyotsnapur under Diyun Police station who is president of All Arunachal Pradesh Deprived People Front (APDPF) and present President of All Chakma Students’ Union of Arunachal has been arrested by Miao Police on 25th May in connection with Miao PS C/NO-10/15 U/S 307/ 120(B)/ 121/ 122/ 123/ 34 IPC R/W SEC 27 ARMS Act and  Section 13 UAP Act.

Earlier, in a joint operation of Changlang police, Namsai police and security forces, seven hard core cadres of APDPF have been arrested along with recovery of huge arms and ammunitions. One cadre was killed on the spot during operation.

During course of investigation another over-ground worker indentified as Arunjit Chakma alias Habedang of Avoipur area under Diyun PS who is General Secretary of APDPF and also present General Secretary of All Chakma Students’ union of Arunachal was also arrested.

Dead body of one more cadre of the group identified as Feroz Khan of Jagiroad, Assam was recovered from forest area under Miao PS on 10th May under totally decomposed condition who is suspected to be died after jumping from a 20 metre height gorge from the site of encounter. So far nine members of APDPF cadres have been arrested with two recovered dead bodies.

In an another incidence, Miao Police along with Assam Rifles have arrested two drug peddlers identified as Jyoti Lal Chakma-35 years and Jagdish Chakma, 30 years both from Dharmapur-I village under Miao Police Station and recovered contraband drug weighing 25 gm and 20 gm Brown sugar from their possession respectively during their regular Nakabandi against drug peddlers and anti-social elements. A criminal case under NDPS Act has been registered against the arrested accused at Miao Police station. DIPRO

 

 

BJP legislators move humiliating Arunachal: APYC

ITANAGAR, May 27: Unprecedented move of the state BJP Legislators with a compendium of complaint against Tuki led government which it submitted to the DoNER Minister with a request not to release funds for Arunachal Pradesh on May 25 has drawn flaks from ruling party in the state.   

Condemning the move, Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) today stated that BJP legislators has put Arunachal’s name in a bad light.

Addressing the press conference here this afternoon APYC President Nyamar Karbak termed the BJP legislators move as humiliating to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and totally uncalled for.

“Instead of seeking funds from the Centre to bail out the state, the BJP MLAs are going door to door in every ministry with a complaint letter not to release fund for Arunachal” Karbak alleged.  APYC President further added that people of Arunachal would not forgive BJP legislators if the current financial crisis is deepened.  Shifting the responsibility, he claimed that current financial crisis is due to scrapping down of Planning Commission and introduction of Niti Ayog.

Defending Tuki led state government, APYC President said, “Tuki has introduced innovative and welfare schemes than what Narendra Modi has done for the country. Modi has done nothing in its one year other than tall promises.”

He further termed Modi’s government as “Suit-Boot Sarkar only for rich and corporate people”.

APYC Spokesperson Kipa Takum in his address lambasted Modi led BJP government in Centre stating, “Achche din is only for rich people”.  

Joining the chorus of the state government, Takum mounted its attack on brand Modi saying that the Prime Minister has done nothing for poor and farmer but enough for corporate.  He further castigated Modi on land acquisition bill, black money and anti-minority propaganda.

Refuting BJP legislators claims that Tuki led government has mismanaged around Rs 900 crore,  Niglar Veo, another  APYC Spokesperson termed it as baseless allegation with an intention to mislead  the people to get cheap political mileage.

“If they have proof they should specify the particular scheme and project, so that the government could call an enquiry committee to investigate the mismanagement” said Veo. He further added that allegation should be based on ground reality.  

On the current financial crisis, Veo also questioned Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju for maintaining stoic silence over the issue.

Rijiju has failed to live up to the people’s expectation; he should seek his government’s help to bail out the state from financial crisis, instead of playing politics over it, said APYC Spokesperson.

The Congress Youth wing also flayed the state BJP for demanding financial emergency in Arunachal. APYC termed it illogical demand saying that nowhere in the history of India financial emergency has ever been imposed.  Throwing its weight behind the government it highlighted various welfare schemes initiated under Tuki government, including universal health insurance scheme, job mela, increase of 10 percent sports quota etc.

 

 

A family awaits justice even as a difficult year passes by

SEPPA, May 27: His frailty makes him appear older than his actual age; Jolu Sangdo, 35 had foreseen his ‘tryst with destitute’ the moment his wife Pafey Sangdo was electrocuted on fateful evening of June 4th 2014 at Seppa in East Kameng, leaving behind three children including then 9 months old daughter Shanti (now she is almost  two year old).

Late Pafe Sangdo, 30-year-old was electrocuted by live wire leaked from low-tension (LT) line at Kochi Culvert Bridge in Type-1 Seppa, near where she sold chicken from her bamboo stall. The mother had gone to relieve herself when she came in contact with leaking wire. She was brought to district hospital and later doctor declared her death around 9.15 pm. It is said that late Pafe was pregnant when she met with the fatal accident.

With the passing of his wife, Jolu’s life has changed forever. He is now forced to battle the misfortune alone in order to support his three daughters by engaging himself in low -wage works and some time sells fire woods.  

It  said that Jolu had approached the Deputy Commissioner for ex-gratia under relief and rehabilitation fund, but the District Administration had turned down the application stating that accident cases are not covered under relief and rehabilitation fund.

With the help of relatives, he further approached the Executive Engineer, Electrical Power Division Seppa seeking a job on compassionate ground.  His application was reportedly recommended by local MLA Tapuk Taku and had been processed but so far has yielded no result.

 “I have almost given up hope to get anything from the government or department because it’s been a year and I have never heard from them, rued Jolu, with tears streaming down his cheeks.

After the Wak village electrocution incident in which four people died, the state government had responded it by announcing ex-gratia of Rs two lakhs each for the deceased; thus resuscitating Jolu’s dying hope of ever getting compensation.

There was neither protest march, nor candle light procession against the department or in memory of the pregnant mother, who died because of carelessness of the department.  The incident was only highlighted in a local daily and later died a natural death.

The family members of Jolu Sangdo have been demanding for a job on compassionate ground considering the state of penury Jolu and his family have been forced into after the death of his wife. The family members squarely blamed the department for her death alleging that due to poorly maintained LT line, Late Pafey was electrocuted.

“Due to negligence of the department, our sister-in-law has died. It could happen with anyone” said Mechi Sangdo, brother of widower Jolu.  

Ironically, the district police had filed a report over the incident where in it ruled out foul play.  The report seems to be shielding the power department from being implicated for gross negligence. Unlike Wak village incident, no enquiry committee was constituted by the district administration to probe the incident. As of now Jolu and his three daughters have no choice but to wait for justice till the authority respond.

 

 

I am still the Chief Councillor, motion was unconstitutional: Aruni

ITANAGAR, May 27: Former Chief Councillor (CC) of Itanagar Municipal Cooperation (IMC) Higio Aruni today claimed that she is still ‘the Chief Councillor and the party high command is with her’.

Aruni’s statement came two days after she was voted out from the post by “No Confidence Motion” during a Special Session chaired by Deputy Councillor Kipa Babu on May 25 last. It is said that during the ‘no confidence motion’ 22 Councillors voted for the motion and two Councilors voted against the motion while five abstained from voting.

Addressing the mediapersons at Press Club today, Aruni termed the method of motion as unconstitutional and undemocratic claiming that no secret ballot was used during the motion. Aruni further claimed that the motion was a pre-planned one, orchestrated by few power hunger and politically motivated groups.

“I am still a Chief Councillor and my party is yet to ask me to resign from the post” she said.

On the allegation of financial mismanagement, nepotism and appointment of contingency staffs, she clarified that allegation was unfounded and concocted. She further claimed that she made the contingency staffs appointment with due consultation of the fellow councillors to strengthen Itanagar Municipal Council.   She also stated that if the group has a proof of her financial mismanagement, they should institute an enquiry committee to unearth the truth.

Aruni also alleged that her removal was part of conspiracy to undermine the women empowerment. She denied that her ouster from the post of Chief Councillor will create any rift within Congress Councillors.

 

 

Papum Pare police arrest two extortionists

ITANAGAR, May 27: Two extortionists posing as NDFB (R) cadres have been arrested by Papum Pare Police.

On May 26, a local contractor had received an extortion call from unidentified person claiming himself to be a cadre of NDFB (R) and asked to pay the demanded amount within a day at Hollongi.

Quick action by the Balijan Police team of  1st and 4th IRBN of Balijan Police Station has foiled the extortion attempt at Hollongi, leading to the arrest of two miscreants namely, Tiran Muchahary  @ M. Thangkhi  23yrs of village South Gopsarguri,  PS Gohpur under Sonitpur Assam and Darbindra Ramchiary @ R. Dwlong, 21 yrs,  of Village Kuwarigarh, PS Gohpur, Dist- Sonitpur, Assam. The arrested persons have been produced before CJM, Yupia and remanded to Police custody for further investigation.

Both the arrested persons were trying to extort money from the local contractor though Mobile Phone in the name of NDFB outfits threatening of dire consequences. From their possessions, two Identity Cards were recovered proving them to be NDFB cadres along with several sim cards and two mobile phones which were used for making extortion calls.

An extortion case has been registered at Balijan PS and investigation has been taken up under the supervision of SP Capital and SP Rural of Papum Pare district.

The SP Papum Pare (Rural), PN Khrimey, while appreciating the local contractors for giving timely information to the Police about the extortionists appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in future too so that Police can act promptly.

 

 

‘Land compensation rate re-notified’

ITANAGAR, May 27: The People's Forum for Project Affected Families (PFPAF), Anjaw district, Hawai today informed that the Anjaw district administration has nullified the atrocious uniform rate of Rs 11/Sq mtr for all categories of land and re-notified the new rates that was consistent with market value for acquisition of land for Khupa to Hawai road widening as per NHDL specification.

The decision was taken in a joint consultative meeting of the PFPAF and district administration held  yesterday following a representation submitted by the affected family on  May 22. The decision has brought a great relief to the poor land owners whose land and properties are being acquired for widening of Khupa to Hawai road, the organization said in a release.  The newly notified rates are at par with the latest rates provided elsewhere in the state and as per the guidelines laid down by the state government regarding acquisition of the land, it added.

Earlier on May 22, the PFPAF  had submitted a representation to  deputy commissioner  for revocation of notified land rates for acquisition of land under Khupa Tri-junction to Hawa BRTF road widening. It also appealed to the authorities to reconstitute a fresh board for fixation of rates for payment of relief for land and property under the project in due consultation with the actual affected land owners and the panchayat leaders.

 

 

Financial assistance to weightlifters approved

ITANAGAR, May 27: The state government following a request from Arunachal Weightlifting Association (AWA) has approved for granting financial assistance to two promising weightlifters of Arunachal Pradesh.

While informing this, AWA General Secretary Daniel Teli said the association has identified two promising weightlifters, namely Jimjang Deru and Kojum Taba who are currently undergoing rigorous training at National Coaching Camp, NIS Patiala, Punjab for various International Championship in 2015.

Their training needs strong diets (food supplement) support which is costing them more than Rs 50,000 a month. They cannot perform and win medal under the current food supplements being provided by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), said the AWA General Secretary.

Considering the fact and their needs, the AWA placed a representation giving detailed requirements of the lifter duo to the Chief Minister for granting financial assistances and accordingly the Director and Secretary (Sports and Youths Affairs) have initiated the file hastily after Chief Minister given his approval for financial grants, he informed. Now the file is under process in the Planning Department, he added

The AWA appealed to the Galo Students Union (GSU) to contact, discuss and get detailed information from the office of the Arunachal Weightlifting Association before making any representation seeking extending financial assistance to state’s promising weightlifter Kojum Taba.

 

 

Consultative meet on Vision Document held

BOMDILA, May 27: Various government departments presented their main thrust areas during the two-day consultative meeting on Vision Document 2030 and 5-year Perspective Plan for West Siang district.

Development of infrastructure, man-power, resources, introduction of computerisation so as to enable proper devolution of powers vis-à-vis the subjects entrusted to Panchayati Raj were the main focus of Panchayat Department.

The department of Food and Civil Supplies gave emphasis on infrastructural development and man-power augmentation, setting up of godowns at vulnerable locations, creation of quarters for staff, provision of APL rice to Police/CPMF (law & order), Gompas and School hostels especially welfare hostels like Rajendra Ashram.

District Industries Centre was of the opinion for encouraging small scale industries and promotion of viable varieties of industries under MSME, setting up of skill development.

While the transport department emphasized on increasing bus services and introduction of sumo services Labour and Employment department suggested for installation of CCTV cameras, introduction of alcometers besides various welfare measures for labourers engaged in BRO.

Electrical Department envisaged to introduce new HT lines, upgradation of old transformers, setting up of new sub-stations and project of rural electrification under DDUGJY scheme besides many other projects.

Hydro Power department proposed to set up new hydel projects, infrastructural development, revival of old and defunct hydel stations and improvement of generation, maintenance of existing Hydel stations.

PHED too presented detailed visionary projects giving more focus on setting up of proper water treatment plants, water quality monitoring, handing over of completed intra village water supply to VMSC/PRI members, water supply to semi urban and urban areas, installation of water meter at Bomdila, individual household latrines, solid liquid waste management under Swachh Bharat Mission etc.

The three divisions of PWD Department presented their vision with massive plans on road sectors, building, bridge construction, strengthening of steel bridges, development of porter track and mule tracks, road connectivity to yet unconnected areas, creation of mini secretariat at Bomdila, marketing trade centre etc.

The projected plan of WRD envisions to bring as much as cultivable areas under irrigation under the aegis of MIP/AIBP schemes in the entire district and to control flood through flood management programmes.

RWD projected plans to create new projects besides other infrastructural developmental activities across the district.

Projects under Urban Development and Housing includes creation of storm water drainage, sewerage, working/un-employed women hostel, old age and destitute children home, burial cum cremation ground, solid waste management, bio-medical waste management system besides many other urban related schemes. DRDA envisaged to extend its MGNREGA schemes including labour budget, IAY (Normal & natural calamity) along with other welfare and development related schemes.

APEDA projected plans to increase the use of solar projects with emphasis on solar power plants.

The 40 year Regional Sheep Breeding, Sangti proposed for infrastructural development including erection of permanent boundary wall, training centres for farmers, development of nucleus yak breeding farm, pony breeding at Chander, Dirang.

DFO of Bomdila Forest Division elaborated its working plan proposing for avenue plantations, development of nurseries, compensatory afforestation and schemes under CAMPA etc.

Dy. Speaker and Bomdila MLA Japu Deru requested all the HODs to be aware of the policies and further disseminate the same to the grassroots level. He requested technical agencies, administration and developmental agencies to help prepare the policies. DIPRO

 

 

Meeting on disaster preparedness held

PASIGHAT, May 27:  East Siang Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Srivastava has  urged  all the line departments to remain prepared to successfully tackle any natural calamity that can happen anytime, anywhere during the monsoon.

Attending a consultative on disaster preparedness here today, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the strategies and preparation for the ensuing monsoon and suggested for inclusion of PRI leaders and councillors of PMC in the disaster response system since they are well acquainted with the area for better information of the geographical landscape of the district.

Taking stock of the inventory and resources available with all the departments, Srivastava directed the DDMO Ganden Tsomu to update inventory record and organize a series of meeting and awareness campaign including workshop and mock drill in around DC’s office and schools-colleges involving defense forces like Army, CRPF, GREF, Gaon Buras, NCC, Scouts and Guides, PRIs, councillors and students community.

The DC also emphasized on stocking of food and other essential commodities including life-saving medicines, drinking water, temporary safe shelter, besides readying search and rescue team, evacuation and transportation, dissemination of warning and other important points before, during and after any disaster.

Earlier, SP Devendar Arya shared many safety tips on disaster management and informed about the preparedness of police forces including fire and emergency services of his department.

CM apprise Gandhi on political and developmental issues

NEW DELHI, May 27: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki along with PCC President Padi Richo and Minister Chowna Mein called on Congress President Sonia Gandhi at New Delhi today. The Congress Party President while appreciating the development activities undertaken by the State Government urged the Chief Minister to continue the pro people policies in the state.

She congratulated the PCC President for successfully organizing the State Level Mahila Convention and the International Labour Day functions at Itanagar recently. The President advised to strengthen the Party at the grassroots by working unitedly and undertaking membership drives at all levels.

Richo while apprising about recent political developments in the State sought her permission to enforce strict disciplinary measures against those working against the interests of the Party and Government to which the Congress President agreed.

She advised the delegation to strengthen the frontal wings especially the members of the Youth Congress and Seva Dal and to train them to participate in relief and restoration activities in the monsoon season.

Earlier in the day, Tuki along with Richo and Advocate General Ranji Thomas paid tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru at his memorial Shanti Van on his 51st Death Anniversary.

In the prayer meeting held at Shanti Van, President of India Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh also paid their tributes to the first Prime Minister of India.

 

 

APCDA demands foray of MNC into AP

ITANAGAR,  May 27: A one-day National Level Executive Committee meeting of All India Organisation of Chemists & Druggists (AIOCD) was held at Bhubaneswar, Orissa on May 24 which was attended by delegates from all over the states.

Participating in the national level executive meeting, Pawan Bagang, president and Honipa Sono Yangfo, vice president of Arunachal Pradesh Chemists & Druggists Association (APCDA) strongly advocated for free flow of multinational drug manufacturing companies in Arunachal Pradesh. “In rest of the states in India, there is a good presence of branded drug companies, providing a secure life for the patients, but sadly, in our state, these branded drug companies are yet to come,” Pawan said.

“For the greater interest of our state and pharmacy sector, we have placed a demand to the AIOCD for immediate introduction of multinational drug manufacturing companies in Arunachal Pradesh,” Pawan added.

He also informed that considering the public requirement, AIOCD has accepted to look into the matter promptly by appealing those multinational drug manufacturing companies to make foray into Arunachal Pradesh by setting up catering centres like dealerships and distribution agencies, stockists and whole sale units.

Meanwhile, in the national level meeting, Pawan Bagang, president and Serra Neelam, general secretary APCDA has been inducted as member  of National Sub Committee and Taxation Committee under AIOCD.

 

 

Youths sent off for beauty training course

ITANAGAR, May 27: 52 youths were sent off to Dawrka to undergo beauty training course today.

The youth were selected under Chief Minister’s Skill Development and Employment Generation programme.

Director, Skill Development and Employment Generation Subu Tabin, Deputy Director K Sarma, Assistant Director J Riba and Boiler Inspector K Nada and representative of VLCC, Dawrka briefed the youths during the sending off ceremony at Udyog Sadan here about the training programme and precautions that they should take during train journey and training period for safety and security.

VLCC Centre at Dawraka will impart training on both theory and practical including soft skill like spoken English, communication skill, internet browsing etc during the seven month’s course. The trade certificate will be provided to all successful candidates by National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), New Delhi after completion of the training and their assessment.

State Govt. has signed MoA with VLCC Centre for imparting training and to ensure minimum 70 percent placement at minimum monthly salary of Rs.10, 000 immediately after successful completion of the training.

 

 

Panchayat leader alleges improper implementation of schemes under BADP

DAPORIJO, May 27: The Anchal Samity Member (ASM) on behalf of the people of 19-Kobu Bango and 2-Nacho Block has lodged complaint with Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner with regards to alleged improper implementation of BADP scheme.

The ASM in a release alleged that fake photograph is being produced in the office of the BDO to show that the work is completed without executing the work properly as per guidelines. Further, the vigilance team and monitoring committee members are also alleged to have shown reluctance to visit to verify the project, the release said.

They claimed that an old building of Keojaring Middle School was also painted in a different colour to give a new look to withdraw money.

A complaint in this regard was also lodged with the Minister of State for Home Affairs, the release added.

 

 

Capacity building  training prog

ITANAGAR, May 27: The Arunachal Pradesh State Cooperative Union in collaboration with Department of Skill Development & Employment generation is organizing capacity building training programmes in batches in various parts of state. Two  week training for 2 batches in Woolen Knitting and another 2 batches in Cane, Bamboo & Wood Crafts for 3 weeks under Border Area Development Progranmme (BADP) were held.

The programme which started on 5th May concluded yesterday.  Training was done at Kalaktang in West Kameng and Khenewa in East Kameng district. Another batch of training on woolen Knitting and handicrafts making in Cane, Bamboo & Wood craft being organized at Mukto in Tawang will end tomorrow.

Attending the closing function, W. Ishimhon, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kalaktang said that several steps should be taken to facilitate and strengthen the craftsmen in the area. He suggested for formation of SHGs of Knitting and Cane & Bamboo Crafts with the help of Block Development Officer & Superintendent, Craft Centre, Kalaktang.

Tashi Norbu, ZPM, Kalaktang, host of Panchayat and other govt. officials were present on the occasion.

Punish rogue policemen

These days Arunachal police is in the news for all the wrong reasons. Recently three police constables were arrested for drug peddling by the Itanagar police. The incident rocked the trust of people on the police force. When law enforcer themselves breaks law, it sends wrong message to the masses. If this was not enough, further embarrassing the top police brass on Monday night IRBn jawans assaulted a town magistrate at Aalo town.

Reportedly two IRBn boys were on drinking binge at a local shop which was open beyond the stipulated time. When town magistrate and Aalo police team tried to close down shop, instead of respecting the order of magistrate the jawans allegedly got into argument. They further instigated their fellow colleagues and assaulted the patrolling team. This is not for the first time that IRBn jawans have been alleged of high handiness. Such complaints keep on pouring from various parts of state. Many believe that jawans are not given proper training. Top police officials should take note of such repeated complaints and figure out where things are going wrong. Without the cooperation and support of public, the police alone will not be able to improve law and order situation in the state. However if police keeps on breaking law, situation will never improve. They should strongly punish the rogue policemen.

How does transfer of erring officer Rights the Wrong?

Dear Editor,

The Electrocution at Wak village is very very mournful. It saddens our hearts. Such things happen because safety measures are compromised with. Such disasters are waiting to happen in other villages also for corruption is widespread. I have seen children at B’rjapur village swinging from power-lines that have come down. The poles toppled for they are set on soil and not with concrete! 

It looks like, one of the practices is to Transfer the erring officer in question to some other station.

However, this is not going to help. If you just transfer the erring officer without having to pay for/repent his/her faults, he or she is not likely to change. It is very much likely that the officer may be sulky or more mean and continue to persecute the public in his new station. It is nothing short of a bad omen for the people of when a dangerous officer is thrust on them! 

It is also possible that stringent and corrective measures will not usually happen. This is because one corrupt officer cannot take to task another corrupt officer. They may be in the same boat. Therefore he may do something just to pacify the villagers. But inwardly they know that they are just faking the whole process. 

In the end, it is the duty of the citizens to create the environment that is conducive to us all. Make the society that we want to see.

The predators

Dear Editor,

The recent article about the atrocities of Assam Police on the Highway brings back my nightmarish incident with Assam Police.

I was travelling in a car of my friend with all valid documents and my driving license. The police or should we say predators stopped my vehicle checked all documents and then asked for the owner of the vehicle. When I said it was my friend’s car, they threatened me saying that I had robbed the car and trying to abscond to sell the car. When I insisted on seeing their senior, they became very rude and rough. I had no option to pay Rs.200, that to after hard bargaining from Rs.5000.

I never knew that the owner of the vehicle should be bodily present in the car, the new rules framed by Assam police was discussed among my friends and they felt comparatively the police of Bihar and UP are like  angels.

A request

Dear Editor,

Through your esteemed daily, I would like to request the PWD  to conduct the JE exam civil not earlier than August. There are several candidates who will be appearing for APPSCE Mains in the month of July. It will be almost impossible for us to simultaneously prepare for both the exams, if JE exam is held in the month of July. Hope the concern authority will look into the matter and consider our case while deciding the date of JE exam. We too deserve a fair chance to compete.

Silent govt

Dear Editor,

This is regarding physical assault on Arunachal Pradesh Police in Assam. Why is our government silent on the issue when they are aware that our neighbour has misbehaved with citizen of Arunachal? Physical assault on APP is great shame for us. If police are assaulted than what about common people?  People are always silent and don’t wants to raise voice while the Government is busy in safeguarding their personal issue.

Through this daily, I would like to request Govt. of AP to take necessary actions and negotiate directly with Assam government.
